Elizabeth Gilmore and family honor Raili Artale for her many years of care, kindness and generous spirit:

Raili Artale started helping our family in 1982. My husband had just been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and our two children were an infant and a three year old. From the beginning, Raili did so many things, always cheerfully willing to do whatever was needed to help keep the house running – from cleaning and cooking to picking up the children and running errands. She made it possible for me to parent and manage a whole new set of responsibilities. Over the years her time with us waxed and waned as our needs and hers shifted. When my second husband got terminal cancer and was also partially paralized, her work shifted again and she was a core member of his care team. Decades of friends and family have grown fond of Raili, and her annual Finnish gingerbread house is legendary. After over 40 years with our family, we are so glad to honor her work and her incredibly kind and generous spirit.
